Given how large the P2 conferences are now, if the CCG goes away then might
as well divide up the P2 conferences into smaller conferences. They could still negotiate the media contracts jointly and have scheduling agreements to get the most bang for their buck.
I have always thought expanding a conference to 20+ members could have always been a means to an end. If enough conferences grow that large, then it could make it easier to create enough gap with the references of the conferences. Once the gap is large enough, then it would make the decision easier for the super conferences to break away from the group to do their own thing because the size of the gap would essentially neutralize any political influence/power the federal and state politicians had over the school.
