Kelly went 54-9 his last five ND seasons, with two playoff appearances

I had felt that he, and ND, were not getting enough credit nationally for that five year run. Like I said, no hard feelings when he left. He had been there for twelve years (going 113-40 overall) and it was time to move on. Then, he ran his mouth incessantly. So, he had zero goodwill from ND people after that. He burnt all bridges. I doubt that he will be warmly welcomed back to campus, ever. I had thought since Saturday night that Virginia Tech may be his next job. He is a good program builder and a good CEO coach. He needs good coordinators and good recuiters on staff (he was a lazy recruiter, both at ND and at LSU). He has been a consistent 9-10 game winning coach throughout his career. He might be Tech's best prospect in this crazy coaching search year.
