This is true, but U's like UVA & Tech made NYD Bowls after 85 scholarship
limit was finally approved. It's why Welsh and Beamer could get to them when neither school ever came close to them before. Then Nick Saban negotiated an NFL staff with Alabama and he dominated the SEC and all of college football, until a small group like Georgia, Ohio State etc did the same. Now, with NIL IMHO way more than paying players, it is completely slanted to about 5 schools. ESPN and Fox are driving this, I was involved when NASCAR was everywhere and growing at unbelievable rate. However, the networks started focusing on a handful of drivers and teams and they totally blew it. I was on the corporate sponsorship side of it, and you could just see the fans flocking to just a handful of drivers/teams. They are doing the same thing with College Football. Watch Alabama now that they don't have Saban. Georgia is already better than them. What would have happened if Ryan Day lost to Tennessee? He's probably not even coaching right now. That's what happened to NASCAR, some of those drivers got families, and they didn't drive as aggressive. Or the families are not as supportive about them recruiting all the time, and they go to the NFL. The networks are rolling the dice by putting so many eggs in one basket, their goals are so short term focused, they can look invincible, all the way up until they are not anymore.
