why break off if you can strongarm the organizers into just inviting more..

of your members? i think we're just as likely, if not more likely, to see a 76/80/96 team tournament with all >.500 P2 and most >.500 P4 members getting autobids along with the current 31 conf champs leaving whatever is left for non-P2 at-large spots. for basketball in particular, i think the P2 still see the value in partnering with ACC/BigXII (for now) and cinderellas from mid and low majors make opening rounds more entertaining.
