Where #7 and #2 differ though is the watered down ACC would exist, but the
membership would comprise the bottomfeeders. Here is what I am talking about for a #7 scenario.
ACC: BC, UConn, Syracuse, Pitt, Duke, Wake, GT, (maybe) UVA, (maybe) UNC, and (maybe) L'ville
New Conference: FSU, Miami, Clemson, NC State, VT, (maybe) WVU, (maybe) L'ville, (maybe) Pitt, (maybe) UNC, and (maybe) UVA
The reason I placed a "maybe" next to UVA, UNC, L'ville, and even Pitt is because there are questions regarding just how committed those schools are to developing their football program. If they are not as committed to their football program as they are to their basketball programs, then they may not decide to leave the ACC to form a new conference. If that is the case, then their spot would go to another school (i.e. SMU) who may share the same level of commitment as the "football schools." Likewise, if they decide to leave the ACC, then the ACC would fill their spots with other schools (i.e. UMass, Cincy, Memphis, etc.) who place more importance on their basketball programs.

You’d have to include a range of dates for each category.
