I wish it wasn't so, but it is. Sure, there are some programs, like USC, that can bring one more along. But I'm afraid VT nor UVa are one of them. UNC might be one of those who can bring a strap hanger. And that strap hanger might be UVa, or NC State, or Duke. But I can already see that in that scenario, that UNC coattails won't be long enough to get the Hokies an invite if UVa is already on board. OTOH, I think VT would be well suited to offer access to the state of Virginia for the conference that doesn't end up with UNC and UVa. This may be the Big Ten. There has not been much realignment chatter about VT to the B1G, but it isn't far-fetched. And VT brass should be working the phones. Lastly, I have a hunch that both FSU and Clemson are headed to the B1G. I've always thought that we should be hitching our wagons to those two football-first schools (as opposed to the old order, tobacco road types).
