“Mutual Resentment “
That describes the big ten and Notre Dame. It’s a 100+ year beef with roots between mostly Michigan and the Irish. The “Fighting Irish” was actually a derogatory name placed on the team by Michigan. Some of it is anti-Irish, anti-catholic and the rest just bad blood.
Notre Dame will fight to have its independence and to exist free from the Big Ten. That’s potentially good for the ACC if they can stomach the rest of the deal
