Miami tanking had nothing to do with coming to the ACC. If you recall

The unofficial ACC championship game in 04 was VT, Miami final game of the season. The two new members were immediately the top 2 teams in 04. Miami’s problems were a series of bad hires after Davis left. Coker won a championship but recruiting took a hit under him and they never recovered. IMO, the reason the ACC is in the position it’s in now is MIami dropping off a cliff, FSU sucking for 9 years, Clemson being mediocre for years. VT and BC in some ways had to carry the conference with a couple of decent years by GT. That is until 2011 when Clemson replaced VT.

All of this reminds me of the BE days. Miami demanding better payouts

In 03? No. They had a better deal in the BE than they do in ACC

I think the ACC as whole decided to look into it and explore their options.**

Yep, and when Miami joined the ACC they went into the toilet wrt football.

They were, sort of, headed in that direction anyway

Yeah, that’s one major cause. **

Hmm, maybe there is a lesson in that?
