I don't have a hard position on SMU, Cal or Stanford yet. But ND advocating
for Cal and Stanford is laughable. As if they have any influence now. They showed their hand when they helped the SEC grow the CFP, thereby closing the door on any possibility of joining the ACC. This came right after the ACC did ND a solid by allowing them to play in the league when ND was SOL during Covid. Needless to say, ACC ADs aren't amused.
If Cal and Stanford want in, they should tell ND to be low key about it.
And BTW, I like SMU's approach. They are putting their money where their mouth is. And all these people saying "SMU is not even the 5th best brand in Texas" think they have a point. But, put them in a conference like the ACC, and all of a sudden, the gap closes between them and TT, TCU and Baylor.
