I'm not even a little bit worried about Venables
There are almost always growing pains when a new coach comes in. Bob Stoops went 7-5 in his first year at OU, finishing the season with a Liberty Bowl loss to Ole Miss. The next year we went and won it all. There aren't many teams that have consistently stood up to Alabama and Georgia and Ohio State, but Venables' defenses at Clemson were always up to the challenge. It'll take a year or two to get his system and recruits in place and right the ship, but he'll get us there. And speaking of recruiting, that's the absolute last thing any of us are concerned about. We have always and will always pull the bulk of our talent out of the state of texas. The only program that does that any better than we do is UT, and even then it's close. It doesn't matter what conference we play in, geography dictates that we will always share a border with one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country.
