I mean no NCAA taking a Billion dollars from basketball mainly from the

tournament. I mean the Power 3 or 4 breaking off. That being ACC, SEC, B1G and probably the Big 12. If ND goes the to B1G, I think they also get Stanford and maybe even Oregon and Washington. If that happens the PAC is done as a Power Conference, and several of those teams join the Big 12. There is your Power 4 Conferences and the new tournament. They may let other conferences in like football is doing, but those 4 will dominate it and based on history, the ACC will dominate the later rounds where the most money is, the most. Very similar to what an expanded footbal playoff will do for the SEC. ** Edited by Stech at 8/12/2022, 4:41:29 PM

Crazy idea, but...

ND seems to be partnering with the B1G & NBC for TV, that's probably done.

What do you mean by basketball breaking away

The ONLY scenario where I could see ND as a full member of the ACC is
133193Hokie 08/12/22 01:45 PM ET
I would imagine that would pi$$ off the other members of the ACC, and
VPI_1998 08/12/22 02:24 PM ET
Pretty much.**
EDGEMAN 08/12/22 03:30 PM ET
Agreed! I didn't say it was a good idea ;-) I just said that was the only
133193Hokie 08/12/22 02:42 PM ET
ND will never be in ACC football
MrFantastic! 08/12/22 01:46 PM ET
That is why I said I dont see this ever happening ;-)**
133193Hokie 08/12/22 02:02 PM ET
ND is going to want an exclusive national slot on ABC. The SEC isn't
reestuart 08/12/22 01:31 PM ET
ND will join the BIG and it'll happen right soon
HokieToph 08/12/22 01:18 PM ET
You would think that USC would have negotiated the preservation of the ND
Maroon Baboon 08/12/22 09:19 PM ET
I don't think that USC negotiated anything. I think both CA schools are
HokieToph 08/13/22 10:29 PM ET
ND is going Big 10. Probably in 2025 but maybe earlier.**
AirborneHokie96 08/12/22 12:53 PM ET
How do you know this?**
Stech 08/12/22 02:50 PM ET
I go to Mass in Indiana
AirborneHokie96 08/12/22 02:59 PM ET
I was there in 2019. Asked a young priest standing there….

Man...that was a windy game.
AirborneHokie96 08/12/22 03:47 PM ET
Also, any word on who they will take with them?**
Stech 08/12/22 03:11 PM ET
My guess is Stanford.
EDGEMAN 08/12/22 03:31 PM ET
Me too, possibly Oregon and Washington too.**
Stech 08/12/22 04:11 PM ET
No. That really wasn't part of their discussions as all from what I gather
AirborneHokie96 08/12/22 03:23 PM ET
Makes so much sense. Have them play USC & UCLA away in alternating

any word if it would be full BIG membership or just ND football joining?**

We were at Notre Dame for an unofficial visit with our daughter a few
AirborneHokie96 08/12/22 03:24 PM ET
Cool, I grew a Notre Dame fan, until I went to Virginia Tech and went VT!**
Stech 08/12/22 04:06 PM ET
Would not bet my life on that notion!**

Pretty sure I remember John Swofford saying the same thing...
MP4VT2004 08/12/22 09:41 PM ET

It helped kick the can down the street a few mores years
Vippie1 08/12/22 04:14 PM ET
It’s never a good idea to have the BE as a strategic template.
mancunian 08/12/22 03:56 PM ET
well i'll say this much
Vippie1 08/12/22 12:47 PM ET
VT has a greater chance of going independent than ND joining the ACC in FB
OrlandoHokie 08/12/22 12:31 PM ET
I agree but ACC affiliation(as is now) can save their INDY.
MrFantastic! 08/12/22 01:21 PM ET
As a fan, I agree
