These are state universities. And even the private schools get a ton of aid
research grants. It is also impacting a lot of lives and livelihoods of people and towns. If they tell the Citadel they have to admit Shannon Faulkner, why wouldn't they inject themselves into something much wider?
These state universities have been built on federal and state money for over a century. And while I know athletic budgets are separate, they didn't get here on their own.
VT and Baylor have been helped on the athletic side by their state governments, I'm surprised so few others have.
