For consideration, some data on the champ games

Note, I'm showing what conference the teams are currently in (not what they were in at the time). I did it this way to see how much impact there has been from consolidation in the P2. One note I will make is to call out the Nick Saban effect. He joined the SEC in 2000 at LSU and got them a title. Then when he went to Alabama in 2007, the SEC overall just exploded for national title dominance. Since 2006, only three title games have not had an SEC team in the game (and two of those were the most recent two years). And the SECN didn't start until 2014 so the rise of the SEC happened first and then they rode the wave. ** Edited by HokieAl at 1/23/2025, 11:22:15 AM

Yep. NFL can finish with 14 teams in about 4 or so weeks. That includes

the conference championship games are borderline useless now, IMO.

They are, but they are $ makers for the Conference, but as previously

I'm good with anything that gets the CFP moving by the first weekend

when did they start having Herbie as an announcer?
HokieAl 01/23/25 09:55 AM ET
Had to look it up. It was 2006, with Dan Fouts in that seat before him.

Herbie's problem is he talks way too much. I think he's OK as an analyst,
reestuart 01/23/25 10:50 AM ET
Agree, it’s dominated with expansion by the P2, but some weren’t in those
