I have been on the road for work and are just seeing this

I don't think this is a surprise at all. If you are on this board, you already know that the cable bundle is on life support and will be a relic of the past in the future. ESPN gets the largest chunk of a montly cable bill and they need to start planning for life after the death of the bundle. You can now see how all of this will shake out. The content providers have all started their streaming services and are competing with Netflix, Amazon, Apple, and Google for the video audience. I think that Disney, Fox and Warner all figured out that if they do not create a home for all sports, Venu, that they may be in trouble in competing against Netflix, Amazon, and Apple who all have deeper pockets than Disney et al. Venu is locked in the courts due to an injunction for Fubo but that will eventually get worked out. The big question is, will the money that a consumer pays for Venu create enough subs to pay for all of the overhead at ESPN, TNT, FS1 and others. If it does, then they look brilliant. If not, things are going to get wild. I still think the day is going to come when Amazon, Google, or Apple makes a big play for a super conference or an SEC/Big 10 alliance. The money will be off the charts. They will still keep their over the air inventory because they are smart people but that day is coming. MLS is very happy with Apple, so you know that they can send all of the content for an entire league anywhere in the world. Google has NFL Sunday Ticket. It is coming.
