students an athletic fee. That being said, the administration of that school does support the athletic program in other ways, so sometimes, it's just how they slice the pie. Clemson for instance, could provide monetary support with the tuition they now collect, but they separate the athletic department expenditures out from the general budget - and as most know, schools have been telling the athletic department for decades that they are on their own. One of the biggest expenses the athletic department has, are the scholarships they provide, and pay the school. I don't know the different state laws or mandates, but it seems to me, that if athletics is advantageous to a university (it can be argued either way), then administrative support needs to up their game - and maybe stop taking money from their athletic departments in tuition payments for those students representing the university. ** Edited by Big12 guy at 10/19/2024, 12:28:53 PM
