dizzy. It is easy to make a good argument for almost any combination of moves. It's just as easy to blow up any suggested combo with "yeah, but...." arguments. I think the media companies will have a big say this time around and they may veto some moves, especially expansion of The SEC from The ACC. Using round numbers, ESPN is facing a future in which they have ACC schools for ~$50 million per. The SEC wants poach some of those schools, at which time ESPN will begin paying those same schools ~$80 - $100 million, without improving their footprint. Will ESPN be eager to do that? They would almost certainly reject a redundant bundle of UNC, NC St, UVa, VT. Whatever benefit the institutions find in this, it may not be persuasive to ESPN. Flugaur (I know) implied that The SEC is seeking to involve an additional media partner if they expand. Is this as simple as adding SEC content to The CW "overflow" channel? Does this require ESPN's cooperation in the media contract? Would expansion teams be excluded from the current media deal and have their own package elsewhere? Maybe I am needlessly paranoid, but I see ESPN as being more agreeable to ACC teams moving to The B1G rather that The SEC. It would give them an opportunity to buy in to the footprint they lost in The B1G and the West Coast. If The B1G expands they will need more linear TV capacity (ESPN). I am among the minority who think Georgia Tech has a chance at The B1G. The OTA networks would love to be televising games in Atlanta and The BTN would enjoy the carriage coins from that very large state.
