I suspect it is for football-only membership like what the AAC currently
has with Navy. By adding Army to the mix, then the AAC would retain the rights to the Army-Navy Game, Army's home game against Air Force, and Navy's home game against Air Force. At least I don't think Army and Navy are interested in leaving the Patriot League for all their non-football sports. I believe they would be a package deal for any full membership scenarios. If the AAC is interested in adding Army and Navy as full members, then I guess it would open the door to adding Air Force as a full member too.
