She was a terrible ad .she was terrible in raising revenue but borrowed extensively and put the program in the hole…. The president football and basketball coaches all went to md together and made deals without the ad who was a nc state person- talk about a culture issue…the president and and coaches and ad were all acc folks. When the president retired they hired the provost of ill who came in and found the athletic dept in debt - he didnt know anyone in the acc and the acc didn't go up for an introductory mtg. The president of md outreached to his big ten guys and basically got a loan to get in the black. Big ten operations are located in champaign . ( the acc would have behind the scenes would have done the same if they knew) the president then forced yow to retire- he let go of fridgen and his coach in waiting franklin now at penn state and forced gary to retire. Maryland is gone but its lesson in relationships.
