That might be conservative. Like you said, "Writer's perspective". No TV executive is saying "Gosh, I need UVA playing Tennessee in baseball in May, so I can have 100k people watch that game instead of the usual 85k!" I've not once heard "MLB model" or "NBA model" in conference realignment. I haven't heard a single sentence about UCLA's basketball cache. I've heard more about Chip Kelly than John Wooden or Mick Cronin. (Which is zero about those hoops guys) I've honestly barely heard about UCLA at all, just USC, football and Lincoln Riley. Nothing about UCLA's soccer, or their all sports history, which is far more impressive than UVA and in a far greater TV market. The only thing that matters in conference realignment is compelling football matchups weekly to drive ratings. UVA, and their 31 national championships are still far less of a football draw than VT in VA/DC.
