I think you underestimate.....

the difficulty of putting that type of schedule together both in terms of opponents and balancing home and away games. Even a powerful independent like ND has some of those concerns and things are not going to get any easier in a P2 scenario. Scheduling years ago for VT as an independent was difficult and it is infinitely more difficult today with conference media tie ins. Any AD will tell you that one thing that makes their football scheduling job manageable is having 2/3 of it already laid out by their conference.
