None of our current or past rivalries matter when making the decision for our next step (if we even have a choice). VT facilities for sports and fans are in desperate need of repair and refurbishing. VT fans have a long history of being on the low end of donations. We need media money to help cover for our lack of extra funding. VT is not near a major metro area. So we do not get as many of the casual fans that go to games and help provide some tickets and retail and concession sales. We need media money to help fund operations. I love our rivalries with schools like UVA and WVU. But right now, survival is the top priority for VT. And we are barely treading water. So unfortunately I don’t care if a key rivalry gets broken up in the short term.
