We cant seee shoulds and coulds but here's realty

Mountain West brand value took a huge hiit when Boise State, SD State, Co State and Fresno State left. NOt onlyh are they good brands, but they lost huge Markets like San Diego Denver and the Fresno. Mountain West picked up Grand canyon UTEP. well.... THis is not about fans or hopes and desires but that what media valuates programs. ACC has big markets, Bay Area, Dallas Boston NY, Miami Atlanta Charlotte, DMV, and Teams with overall solid market and brands. Right now they are good, it would probably not affect the rights, Also, VT NOW has a an operational 225-250 million dollar a year athletic dept. As Franklin says, the University's metric is be playoff contenders (short term 2-4 years) and they got hte money. If so VT WILL be in a player in new reconfiguration not left behind. Also with VT rights structure, Miami will get al the ACC's chunk for playoffs. that could be 30 imllion extra to ongoing rights,. That is SEC Big 10 level. So VT gets that way and media exposure they do just fine.

Corporate Consolidation is about cutting costs, small amount make more, but

With CBS being the main partner of the MWC, and

The ACC is likely to lose some schools (up to 4 IMO) in 2030, but
RandomAsianGuy 01/19/26 12:31 PM ET
Agree, P2 are now competing & not cooperating for them, but I think 8 is
Stech 01/19/26 01:24 PM ET
Adding low profile schools only dilutes the brand.
RandomAsianGuy 01/19/26 01:38 PM ET
I don’t think the top 8 in the ACC are low profile schools, I think the B1G
Stech 01/19/26 02:01 PM ET
If the top 8 in the ACC is the P2 worthy, the ACC should have received
RandomAsianGuy 01/20/26 12:12 PM ET
The top 8 including Miami are investing now, fortunately w/ NIL & Portal it
Stech 01/20/26 12:46 PM ET
ACC is only "safe" through 2029. That's when we'll see the next shifts-
Baltimore_Hokie 01/19/26 10:09 AM ET
That’s right by then the penalties are much smaller. **
Stech 01/19/26 01:08 PM ET
If there is in fact movement in the ACC, there

The Big 12's next media deal.......

You're opinion could be spot on, but as you
Big12 guy 01/19/26 10:46 AM ET
The current B12 media contract pays $31.6M/school annually
SMU Pony 01/19/26 02:55 PM ET
Agreed. I was surprised that they got that
Big12 guy 01/19/26 03:12 PM ET
Well ESPN was offering the Pac-12 $30M per school
SMU Pony 01/19/26 03:18 PM ET
We will see, but it is what it is. What I will find compelling
