"split up" and go to the SEC and B1G, respectively. I think the SEC primarily wants UVa over us at this time because they see it as a necessary take-on to get UNC. But if neither UNC nor UVa care about staying together, I think the SEC would be very pleased to take VT instead. I also think Maryland would LOVE to have UVa in the Big Ten. BTW, the SEC can and should want to get this far north. In fact, I think they should take some BigXII schools in the Southwest and Rockies (ASU and Colorado for starters). The current Big Ten model with its major markets and three time zones gives them growth potential that the SEC doesn't have. If the SEC can beat the B1G to the punch in the Mid-Atlantic, Southwest, and Rockies, that will alleviate the advantage somewhat. And don't look now, SEC. But the B1G has won the last two national championships. Lastly, I don't see the B1G taking VT over GT. I would love for the B1G to take both UVa and VT, but that's a big ask. And I think there are many B1G presidents that love GT and want to get into Atlanta and the Deep South.
