The playoff and auto-bids are a distraction

The ACC and B12 are not going to get more money if one of their teams wins the playoff to be the national champion. Only that one team will see some benefit financially. The conference will get a bit of a reputation bump, but it will be short lived and will not increase the money. My fear is that the ACC and B12 focus too much on chasing the playoffs and water down their schedules to try and create more 10 win teams. And if that happens, then the conference actually looks weaker and has fewer interesting games. The main money comes from the regular season and the championship game weekend. If the auto bids go away, it could actually be a good thing if the ACC and B12 approach it creatively.

I think autobids for non P2 champs will stay. But they won’t get byes.

Byes generate losers

Wouldn't adding 4 more teams to eliminate byes generate more income?**
EDGEMAN 01/04/25 01:47 PM ET
it was a joke because of "buys" instead of "byes"**

Playoffs are almost irrelevant. P2 wants to keep other conferences alive….
lawhokie 01/02/25 02:43 PM ET
P2 elevating to a new division basically
Pylons 01/04/25 02:25 PM ET
So the ACC is two and 10 in bowl games, the question is…

Maybe they should form an Alliance, I heard that worked really well. 🤣🤣**

when is the next Pac 12/ACC Alliance working group meeting?**
MrBayAreaHokie 01/02/25 05:08 PM ET
I actually think the solution lies along a merger/alliance path. BUT
HokieAl 01/03/25 09:32 AM ET
Whenever the Big 10 is available, they were part of the alliance also.**

Femoyer Hokie 01/01/25 04:05 PM ET
