Trying to refute rumors in this landscape is an abject waste of time. Every one with a place to post something is making crap up and posting it, feeding this silliness. Refuting one rumor just feeds the next one...just look at the responses to this thread to see how many different "facts" are being created out of the non-response to an opinion posted on the internet. As for why they have done nothing yet, why should they? The whole college sports landscape is in a position to explode. How it settles out, who knows. ESPN has announced a JV with their main rivals and is running a sports book. The Communist Block of the US Congress has decided they want a piece of that so they are investigating it as an anti-trust violation (shocking irony). The sports book thing in general has gone out of control and is now one of the biggest sources of money in the system. The fact that they, a content owner with direct relationships with the schools, are now running a sports a book while student athletes are being suspended for betting legally is likely to draw the attention of some faction of pols who aren't yet getting paid. Recent rulings that players have to be paid, new scholarship limits, potential for players to unionize ..... AND MOST IMPORTANTLY in this situation... the two most valuable properties in the ACC are involved in a lawsuit that could result in them not being part of the ACC and completely changing the value of the ACC as a property. And BTW, the fact that they haven't extended the contract yet, IMO is a pretty big indicator that they are very confident that the renewal and the GOR are not linked and that FSU's claim is baseless. That in itself is a $$$Millions bet and they would be the ones with the best insight into all the agreements, not a bunch of losers in their mom's basement with a YouTube channel. ESPN is doing the only smart thing. Wait. Signing an agreement with all this crap up in the air would be completely moronic...kind of like adding 3 welfare schools to your conference when it is already on shaky ground... The only intelligent thing they can do is wait, ignore the babblesphere, and see what gets resolved before they have to do something. When they have to do it, they use the best info they have at that time and do what makes the most sense at that point.
