He not only made the team, he won the race! Really impressive from Jacory..
He has really worked hard and improved. I know him leaving VT left some hard feelings, but hats off to the guy. He graduated from Florida without a sponsor, and he was working nights at UPS until June.

That was one of the worst portal losses VT ever had
Laurie Barton and the Swedish pole vaulter were two other tough ones from that era ** Edited by UpperQuad at 8/4/2025, 12:16:13 AM

I don’t think the pole vaulter did much at LSU. Did she?

She was the 2021 indoor and outdoor NCAA pole vault champ
after transferring to LSU. VT's Rachel Baxter and Julia Fixsen were the NCAA pole vault champs in 2022 and 2023.

But I thought she was a freshman when she left VT, so what did she do her
other years at LSU. Maybe I’m wrong. Gonna try and look that up. If I can find her name.

OK. She did only compete for Tech freshman year. Next 2 years at LSU did
not place nationally. (2019 & 2020) Her senior year at LSU she won national indoor & outdoor championships. She left Tech to be trained by current world record holder, Armand Duplantis’ father at LSU. She and the fellow Swede, Armand were at LSU together for for that one year, and dated. Before he turned pro. She would have done better if stayed at Tech. ** Edited by Stork at 8/6/2025, 12:20:52 PM

Baxter, Gunnarsson, and Fixsen would have been an amazing PV trio for VT
