DUI or whatever it was called then. Campus cop busted me.

I remember many nights when 3-4 of us would get pulled over and a cops would say, "Is ANYBODY in this car sober enough to drive home?" Some drunk in the back seat would slur.."I am ossifer", and the cop would tell us to get home! The only guy I knew who actually got a DUI (late 70's) was seriously hammered and made the cops chase him back and forth across the drillfield in his VW..THAT got him locked up.,

extreme anti-alcohol crusader. When you used to be able to come down College Avenue and around the curve at Newman Library, I was taking two VT coeds back to Main Egg from a fraternity happy hour. I was only there as a guest of an architecture classmate. Came around the corner and my VW Squareback slid just a hair on icy road conditions. Officer Meredith and his LEO partner saw it and pulled me. We all smelled like beer. They had me walk down the ice-covered curb and back and I did it flawlessly. They asked where I was going and I pointed less than 100' away at the dorm. I took the blood test at a local clinic. Borderline % then was 0.19 and that was my score. Driving back from RU Highlander room partying w/ some Radford babes, cut off a full turn @ a S.Main intersection & was pulled over, lucky for me it was a steady heavy rain _ & he allowed me to go on to my apartment, thx Lord!
