Puppy crate training sucks. Nobody should be awake at this hour.

We did a husky mix and she would howl at least an hour them whimper for a couple of more before she finally fell asleep. Then, like a switch, she was fine with it.
If you aren't, need to do it during the day if possible. Have them in for a few minutes, let them out (take right outside even if they don't need to potty, will get them used to that aspect as well), then back in. Rinse and repeat. Make it longer each time. They will get the hang of it.

just got the dog out and let him sleep on the couch with me. That was a rough couple of weeks.
The dog I had before was much easier.

With all three of our current dogs, we only worked the crate training during the day. Just didn't see any value in trying to do it at night and make everyone miserable. Seems counterproductive.
