Puppy crate training sucks. Nobody should be awake at this hour.

It will be worth it.
We did a husky mix and she would howl at least an hour them whimper for a couple of more before she finally fell asleep. Then, like a switch, she was fine with it. If you aren't, need to do it during the day if possible. Have them in for a few minutes, let them out (take right outside even if they don't need to potty, will get them used to that aspect as well), then back in. Rinse and repeat. Make it longer each time. They will get the hang of it.

I ended up going downstairs and sleeping beside the crate. I eventually
just got the dog out and let him sleep on the couch with me. That was a rough couple of weeks. The dog I had before was much easier.

I guess I should have said 'ruff' couple of weeks.

Yeah, I don't even try at night
With all three of our current dogs, we only worked the crate training during the day. Just didn't see any value in trying to do it at night and make everyone miserable. Seems counterproductive.

just remember that you won't have to ever pay college tuition for him.

Move the crate further away from the bedroom.

Probably a good idea. Not sure the breed, but it looks ornery.

It's worse when they are grown and charge you, barking
