Inside and outside the Cicada territory
It hit me a couple days ago....2 weeks ago, I started noticing cicada carcasses in the parking lot at the office. Last week, I noticed the distinctive noise of the brood at the office (sounds like a Prius backing up....no previous brood I recall ever sounding like this one). But early this week, it hit me that there was no noise at my house. I live about 20 miles directly from the office....so somewhere in between is the border of this cicada brood....kinda interesting it's so stark like that. I live in the Triangle area of NC , btw. ** Edited by statmanfromHCyrs at 5/8/2024, 10:01:44 AM

I’ve been living with them for 3 weeks now…
I live in Columbus GA & they are bad around my wooded property. Every day I have clean them off my deck & driveway. My dog likes to catch live ones & play with them before he eats them. I had my grandson compete to see who could catch the most. That was fun until they started letting theme loose in my house.

There was a spot in town where it was absolutely deafening. I took a sound level meter from the office there and got a Max Peak of 109 dBA with a sustained average for about 5 minutes of 102 dBA.
