Clifton Forge where I lived when 3-6 yrs old. Memories abound! We were poor as church mice and lived in an upstairs of an older house in not so good section of town. Mom… 94 yrs old now but thankfully still sharp…. Came down the steps to our landing where we kids were screaming after discovering a huge rat on the walk. She took a broom and beat the daylights out of that poor thing…. Fierce Mama bear! Hard to watch her struggle a bit now.
