My feeling is there isn't enough info from the article...

...for me to really judge either way. On the surface I'd be inclined to say the students were being a bunch of babies. But he had been teaching there for 15 years. Was this an issue EVERY year, or was it this one particular year/class. There should be enough history there to really determine if the teacher was really a problem or the professor was. But it also wouldn't be the first time a university over-reacted about something.
