I've always been of the mind
that an umbrella policy of significance makes you a bit of a target , in that the accident attorneys like quick settlements, and that typically involves insurance companies. They dont want to go to trial to get at some ones personal assets. If the defendant doesnt have a deep pocket, that is somewhat easy to get at, they probably dont want the case. maybe i'm wrong- if you are really wealthy- sure go for it. But if you are just well off- maybe not.
