Ha ha, I've done that walk a few times...
I do the Marriott thing but only got a room Friday and the closest one was the Christiansburg Fairfield but yeah, used that Residence Inn a few time and have done the late night stumble (maybe a little earlier) from downtown cutting across the drillfield and through buildings to get there.
