Shocking report from UC San Diego on Freshmen college readiness….

The internal UCSD report is linked in the attached article. Basically it tells a tale of HS grade inflation and the failure of many high schools to adequately prepare students. It also creates big question marks regarding the decision of the UC and Cal State systems to eliminate consideration of SAT/ACT scores in admissions. While some blame is thrown at COVID it is really an indictment of the California high school system and the inability of the UCs to weed out incapable applicants. For context, UCSD is generally ranked a top 10 public university (Forbes #3, USNWR #6) and a top 30 university overall.
