Chrysler Is 'Back On,' Stellantis Design Boss Gilles Says
The famous American brand is a century old, and the head of design says its future is looking bright.
Chrysler turns 100 years old this year, and while the highlight of the long-stagnant brand's first triple-digit birthday celebration is just a Pacifica 100th Anniversary Edition (seen above), the man behind what future cars from the brand will look like promises much better things are coming.
“I’ll put it very bluntly, we’re back on with Chrysler,” Ralph Gilles, Stellantis design chief, told Road & Track at a media gathering celebrating the brand’s 100 years.
What does that mean, practically speaking? “We set up a [design] studio,” Gilles continued. ”We didn’t have a Chrysler studio, it was kind of coupled in with the Dodge studio, so we set up a separate Chrysler studio."
"The studio that we set up about a year and a half ago, we’ve been just going nuts in there, looking at concepts.”
