Q for investor types. What to liquidate for cash?

I have to spend some fairly significant money in the next couple of months. For the sake of Lounge argument, let's just say its for hookers, blow, AND a mac. I've got some money in checking/savings/money markets earning almost nothing right now, but they aren't losing value either (unless you count inflation, in which case they are losing value too). And I've got some in conservative growth mutual funds that have definitely been taking losses lately. If you need cash right now, do you liquidate your losses and take the tax deduction, or liquidate the stable value funds and leave the growth investments alone? I do still pump money back into savings/investments every month, so I'm buying things on sale right now. But I can't decide what is the better choice to liquidate for cash in the short term.

Gotta factor in tax consequences in this discussion. **

Aim for net of zero long term capital gains by selling gainers and losers

Don't think I've got enough gains to offset losses
Tafkam Hokie 10/03/22 02:22 PM ET
You can claim 3K in losses if married. If losses exceed 3K on your sale,
