ding, ding, ding, correct!
Hachaliah Bailey bought the land to use it as a winter encampment for his travelling menagerie. His family later became the Bailey component of the Ringling Bros Barnum and Bailey circus. The property was used as winter quarters for the menagerie until 1861. The intersection has been known as Bailey’s Crossroads ever since.
