There was a German POW camp in Georgia where the prisoners largely worked

in the Peach orchards around the town (Perry, Ga) One prisoner upon his return to Germany became the CEO of a large German bank. In appreciation of his treatment in the camp he would return to the town on occasion and buy the town what they needed at the time in infrastructure. (i.e. Fire Trucks, etc.)
