I listened as a middle schooler in the mid-80s. I loved his show
This was before sports radio - I didn't even have ESPN so I was dying for sports fixes. I'd call George Michael Sports Machine (362-4444) for scores, and get more info from Beatrice at night. I think it was like 10-12 or something on weeknights at WMAL in DC?
I remember the classic " I don't eat french fries... but I hear they're very good...."
and this was when a number of people still thought professional wrestling was real, so he would get up on a soapbox to tell them (politely) that they were idiots.
