Try moving the pole 3' further away from any bush or tree limb, or...
Get a taller pole for your bird feeder. I've been using that system for several years, and no squirrel has been able to access my feeders to date...lol
When I first put it up, I saw them trying, and trying, and trying to get past the rat guard, but they eventually gave up. They will eat seed on the ground that the birds toss out of the feeder, but they can't get to it.
