Yeah, I think about stuff like that...

and his was probably a perfect trial and reward cycle...Depression and WWII and then as you suggest the 50s w/cars and tv dinners, home ownership and being able to go places not within 50 miles of home, having a car was probably more amazing then computers would ever be. landing men on the moon. etc. Everyone should grow up with a minimum of comforts but then get rewarded when those rewards are not taken for granted. ... now we seem to be doing things excessively but...not going to go down that rabbit hole. I'm not doing badly myself, probably caught a little bit of the good years (rocknroll!) and trying hard to avoid the madding crowd, eg, read books and take walks and stop doomscrolling.
