That's right, one thing I knew as a kid is minesweepers had wooden hulls.
After the war he was assigned to sweep Bikini Atoll before the nuclear bomb tests. Like some errant mine going off was going to distort their data!
and iron women too, apparently! a ship fitted with heads for women.
