Consider your sources

Several things going on. Including, but not limited to: 1) Confirmational news sources. If you reject any good news about Cali simply because State Media tells you otherwise, you aren't being properly critical. 2) The chart in colored in relation to the US as a whole, not as an absolute. 3) GDP is a single economic indicator, not the entire economy.
