When my wife and I were planning our wedding, the priest said that they
don't allow "Here come's the Bride" to be played for similar to that reason. If I remember correctly, it's from Shakespeare's "The Tempest" and was a mocking of the ritual.
Official google search indicates it's from the Wagner Opera "Loenghrin" and yes, was used in a mocking way. Not sure if it was then also referenced in "The Tempest" in any way.
