Assuming those facts, there are 2 possibilities (it's him or it's not)

1. It is him. His entire life he has done what he wanted, gotten away with it. Probably has a superiority complex (similar to the psycho that slaughtered those kids in Idaho a couple years ago) so he doesn't think he has to get rid of all that stuff to avoid being caught. Something along those lines. Seems logical. 2. It's not him, but someone who is either a willing conspirator who set himself up to allow the actual perp to get away (after a few days to allow the perp to get away, he will produce the proof that he was no where near NY at the time of the shooting), or an unwilling dupe who somehow has the same clothes, backpack, gun, etc. Possible? Sure, likely? No. When the choice is between the criminal mastermind conspiracy and the arrogant POS who thinks he can do what he wants because he wants to...I'd lean to the latter.
