While I didn't necessarily grow up around guns

We did go to the range and shoot 22's in boy scouts, I had a BB gun growing up (and never did shoot my eye out), and we'd go out and shoot pie pans and soup cans with shotguns on my grandaddy's farm. I wasn't regularly exposed to firearms, but I was taught the basics and they certainly weren't taboo or something I was ever told to stay away from. Like almost any topic with political undertones, the very idea of a firearm can be polarizing with strong pro or anti opinions depending on who you are talking to. I certainly don't care if she ever chooses to own a firearm (although women who are afraid of having a firearm confuse me a little, I would think a small device that makes you the physical equal of anyone who wishes you harm would be liberating, not something to be afraid of), but I'd still like her to not be afraid of them.
