before. I get that it isn't that hard to set something down and forget about it until minutes or hours later. We're all human and make mistakes sometimes. On the other, a law enforcement officer's service weapon just isn't a thing they are allowed to forget about or misplace. Ever. And doing it in a middle school is double-yikes. Because I can sympathise with absentmindedly forgetting something, I hope for his sake he gets one heck of a written reprimand and maybe spends the next year or two on one-strike-and-your-out probation, but doesn't get outright fired. I'd hate for this to be a career-ending mistake for him. But I fear someone is going to want to make an example of him.
