Home inspectors are taught to observe and report on organic fungal matter, but not to remediate it. We can do tests to show a homeowner - "Look, You got some!" but somebody else has to get rid of it. TSO & I fight that in our humid summer, no differently than any other climate or geographical area. We have encountered a really feisty bunch of it in our shower that defies common household remedies, even Zep. A few weeks ago, I thought Zep was going to work. Nope. A woman TSO used to work with is now with a company in Newton NC north of us and their mad chemist CEO has created a line of products that they guarantee will fight and eliminate the black mold. Another that seals the grout to prevent future growth. I just mixed a batch of the cleaner and sprayed it on stubborn, impenetrable mold and the mold disappeared in minutes.
