Left hit my neighbor’s pickup head-on 5 doors to my right that was parked on the street. Neither car were drivable but the drunk neighbor backed up & continued to drive the rest of the way to his house while the car squealed loudly enough to wake a 3 block area. His roommate was w/him in the car when he hit my other neighbor. Anyway the drunk went in the front door of his house & out the back door. He told his roommate go down & apologize to the neighbor & to tell him he was too embarrassed to come down but that he’d square up w/ him the next day. The neighbor w/the pickup didn’t want to call the cops but felt he had to since he didn’t have his insurance info. When the cop showed up, he told us that he couldn’t sight him for a hit & run because the roommate had come down to report it to the truck owner & that technically he had 24 hours to report it anyways. We all knew, including the cop that he was drunk but the cop said he wouldn’t be able to site him for DUI if he’s not there. The next day the drunk knocked on the other neighbor’s door with a flower bouquet & apologized before settling up.
