Catcher caught it, but on a hop. That's still considered a drop needing to
get the putout at first, or tag the batter. Pretty heads up by the batter to realize it was a dirt ball, because many just turn toward the dugout not realizing it and are automatically out for "giving themselves up" and a throw or tag isn't necessary.
